Beyond the Technical Skills in Barbering with Chelsea Ard

Mr. T.I.M. gets to talk with another successful barber, Chelsea Ard, who discovered her passion for barbering by her experiences in the salon and having fun experimenting with her brothers’ hair.  As a barber, Chelsea Ard knows that it takes more than just technical skills to give a great haircut. It's also important to make sure that customers are feeling comfortable and better than when they walked through the door.

Chelsea shares what motivates her and how mentoring helped her master skills to become a successful barber. More importantly, she talks about how taking care of your body and putting yourself first are also skills that you need to value and to do.

Highlights

03:09 We are all going through stuff but if you can be someone, not sounding cliche, be a sunshine in the storm.

04:06 Take care of your body. Stand correctly. They don't teach you all that, with your shoulders, back, and how you hold your arms, and your hands, your feet, and how you position and that is needed.

04:39 You gotta find what works best for you.

07:35 The more our clients get to see your work, the quicker they’re gonna be able to get into your chair.

10:51 I feel like what a lot of people in this industry need to be aware of is, you come first, it’s not selfish to put yourself first.
